SneakPick FB Page @ 30Likes

Lao Tzu said, "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

Mixed feeling  tuwing magsisimula. Magkahalong excitement at kaba.

Be part of our journey towards our desired Next Picture...a world where everyone, regardless of background or income bracket get to enjoy, access and experience quality Filipino independent films and stage plays.

Startling Statistics

Now Showing…
Our standing as a nation has been improving. Our economy has recently been recognized as a New Tiger in Southeast Asia.

While optimistic with all these developments, it is a fact that out of 92.3M Filipinos, 26.5% are still living below poverty line. How can a family thrive with less than a dollar a day?

Three percent (3%) of our population are Indigenous People.  What deliberate initiative have we done to have a reciprocal exchange and heritage appreciation with the IPs?

Based on recent literature, there are 45,000 public schools in the Philippines with about 20M students each year. To what extent have we taught our students the importance of culture and arts?

Our functional literacy rate is 58M out of 67M Filipinos. They are expected to read, write and do basic math. How well are we doing in terms of teaching critical thinking, self-sufficiency and creativity? How are we reaching out to the 9M remainder of that ratio?

Coming Soon…
Last year the gross revenue of the Arts, Entertainment and Recreation industry was posted at Php 51.8B. Eighty (80%) of this is actually attributable to gaming (a.k.a. gambling) which is considered “recreation”.  If we set aside the revenue from mainstream entertainment, how much are we really spending for arts? Are we foreseeing the same spending pattern within the next couple of years?

Based on BPAP’s data, we have 800 BPO players employing about 800 thousand with revenue of $11B last year The BPO industry has a growth projection of $27B, the workforce increasing to 1.3M by 2016. As we respond to the growing demands of the world market, how are we giving back?

Studies show that developed countries place great importance to the value of arts and culture. SneakPick believes that as our cultural consciousness grow so would our desire to move the country forward.

The Birth of an Advocacy

Setting. I grew up in Paco, Manila where riots, diaper-less babies, barefoot toddlers, palaboys (street kids), bungageras (high-strung nags), teenage moms, jobless drunken fathers, and peddlers abound. They have their sidecars for a house, beer for breakfast, bingo as their means to earn, and laundered clothes as permanent street trimmings.   They don’t just lack education...some would say they don’t have breeding.

Our street is a convergence of two worlds. Yes, one street yet worlds apart.

The other world is that of a sheltered-gated world where people are educated and speak good English. They communicate well but they barely knew their neighbors. It’s a world where there are more rooms in the house than people. My gated neighbors are either in their offices, businesses or out of the country. They have the time and money to travel and watch shows. They are cultured.

Our street is just like any other street in Manila. What you see here can be seen elsewhere in the Philippines.

Era. I was born in the ‘80s. Signs of the Marcos regime grandeur and Imelda’s culture and arts revolution were evident. Back then children physically play and interact with each other.

From this humble background and ripened by time, it dawned on me…something can be done better than outreach and deeper than what is physiological.
