Our standing as a nation has been improving. Our economy has recently been recognized as a New Tiger in Southeast Asia.  

While optimistic with all these developments, it is a fact that out of 92.3M Filipinos, 26.5% are still living below poverty line. How can a family thrive with less than a dollar a day?

Three percent (3%) of our population are Indigenous People.  What deliberate initiative have we done to have a reciprocal exchange and heritage appreciation with the IPs?

Based on recent literature, there are 45,000 public schools in the Philippines with about 20M students each year. To what extent have we taught our students the importance of culture and arts?

Our functional literacy rate is 58M out of 67M Filipinos. They are expected to read, write and do basic math. How well are we doing in terms of teaching critical thinking, self-sufficiency and creativity? How are we reaching out to the 9M remainder of that ratio?

Last year the gross revenue of the Arts, Entertainment and Recreation industry was posted at Php 51.8B. Eighty (80%) of this is actually attributable to gaming (a.k.a. gambling) which is considered “recreation”.  If we set aside the revenue from mainstream entertainment, how much are we really spending for arts? Are we foreseeing the same spending pattern within the next couple of years?

Based on BPAP’s data, we have 800 BPO players employing about 800 thousand with revenue of $11B last year The BPO industry has a growth projection of $27B, the workforce increasing to 1.3M by 2016. As we respond to the growing demands of the world market, how are we giving back?
